About the Pioneers
TWU has constructed a two-game win streak in conference play, their first back-to-back wins within the league schedule this year. Cara Zwilling has produced all of the scoring in the 1-0 wins against Midwestern State and Eastern New Mexico, in which she secured her first two career goals. Chelsea Martin is third in the Lone Star Conference in goals with seven and fourth in points with 14, and sits tied in sixth alongside Zwilling with two game-winning goals, while Rachel Peters is ranked third in the league in assists with three. Samantha Jimenez leads the conference is saves with 82 and is second in shutouts with seven.
In the first set of NCAA South Central Regional Rankings on Wednesday, the Pioneers slipped into the eighth spot with four games remaining in the regular season.

The Lady Buffs have rattled off six straight wins, the longest win streak within the Lone Star. Their last loss was a 2-1 defeat against Angelo State on Sept. 30. WT averages 1.769 goals per game while allowing 1.00.
 
History between Texas Woman's and West Texas A&M
DENTON, Texas (Sept. 23, 2016) – A goal by Texas Woman's University's Chelsea Martin with two minutes remaining cut the lead of West Texas A&M to one, but the Pioneers were unable to connect again in a 2-1 loss to the Lady Buffs in the Lone Star Conference opener Friday night at TWU Soccer Field.
 
TWU takes 1-0 win at ENMU
PORTALES, N.M. (Oct. 21, 2016) – Cara Zwilling scored her second game-winning goal for Texas Woman's University in as many games Friday night in a 1-0 win over Eastern New Mexico at Greyhound Stadium.
 
The Pioneers (8-6-1, 4-5-0 LSC) outshot the Greyhounds (3-10-1, 2-7-0 LSC) 11-to-7 with a game-high five coming from Hannah Schneider. Three of Schneider's attempts were on goal while the team amassed a total of seven compared to three by ENMU. TWU totaled eight corner kicks, the Greyhounds recorded four, and  Samantha Jimenez saved three shots in defense of the goal.
 
Gaby Larson found Zwilling following a corner kick in the 36th minute for the first and only score of the game. Following halftime, Schneider fired off a shot in the 53rd minute and Rachel Peters made an attempt minutes later, but both tries were saved by the keeper.
 
ENMU sent off three shots within the final five minutes, but two sailed wide while the last was saved by Jimenez with 37 seconds remaining.
 
Soccer recognized by NSCAA for academic achievement
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (October 6, 2016) – Texas Woman's University earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during the 2015-16 academic year by recording an overall grade point average of 3.36.
 
To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player's GPA, then dividing by the number of players. A total of 892 soccer teams (315 men, 577 women) from throughout the United States were recognized for their efforts.
