Last meeting between TWU and ECU
DENTON, Texas (Sept. 13, 2013) – The Pioneer soccer team made its 2013 home debut with a 3-1 win over East Central on Wednesday night at TWU Soccer Field. TWU improved to 2-3 on the season in front of 510 fans, the second-highest soccer attendance total in school history.

The Pioneers took a 3-0 lead on goals by sophomore Erin Bolinger, junior Emily Davila and freshman Hailey Faul before ECU scored a late goal. TWU outshot the Lady Tigers 8-7 including 6-1 in the first half.

The Pioneers got on the scoreboard in the 12th minute when Bolinger found the net off a corner kick by freshman Tori Crook. TWU made it 2-0 at 35:29 mark on Davila's second goal of the season. Sophomore Lauren Smith and freshman Alisa Velasquez both assisted on the Davila score.

Faul scored her first collegiate goal in the 72nd minute to give the Pioneers a 3-0 advantage. She took a pass from sophomore Kayla Gorney and found the top right corner from the left wing.

No. 25 Texas Woman's stays undefeated with 1-0 win
DENTON, Texas (Sept. 10) – A quick goal from junior midfielder Chelsea Martin in the opening moments of the second half gave No. 25 Texas Woman's (3-0) all it needed to win its home opener 1-0 over in-region rival Dallas Baptist (0-3-1).

Just 1:08 into the second half, senior forward Rachel Peters sent a through ball from the right side which was deflected by a DBU defender and ended up behind Patriot goalkeeper Hope Koym.  The ball continued across the goal line where Martin ran on to tap it in for her second goal of the season.

TWU started the game on the attack and earned three corner kicks in the first six minutes.  The Pioneer offense kept the Patriots busy with a steady stream of pressure.
Sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Jimenez saw her first challenge from the DBU offense at 13:31 when Rebecca Kernen laced a shot on goal that Jimenez denied with a diving save to her left.

Five minutes later, senior forward Rachel Peters dribbled down the right side and launched a cross that brought DBU keeper Hope Koym out of the goal to smother the ball.

Jimenez kept DBU off the board in the first half by denying the Patriots four times including a point blank shot from Leah Draper at 28:42 and again at 31:06 when Kernan sent in her second shot on goal.

With less than a minute before the half, Jimenez leaped to tip Lindsey Washburn's shot over the crossbar and the game was scoreless at the intermission.

With a goal on the board in their favor, the Pioneers played inspired soccer in the second half with efficient passing combinations that stretched the opponent's midfield.  TWU totaled 15 shots for the game, led by Martin who had six shots, two on goal.

Jimenez, the current Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week, went the distance between the pipes for her third win of the season and her second shutout.
