Preview: Pioneers at No. 9 Angelo State Friday

About the Pioneers
The Pioneers picked up a crucial win Sunday in a 3-2 overtime victory over West Texas A&M. TWU currently has a hold on the sixth and final spot for the Lone Star Conference tournament with two regular season games remaining. Freshman midfielder Jazmine Navarro ranks second in the Lone Star Conference in assists with six, while senior midfielder Chelsea Martin has two game-winning goals on the year to sit third in the league and leads the Pioneers with six goals to rank third in the LSC.
 
About No. 9 Angelo State
The Belles are on a five-game win streak that began Oct. 8 with a 3-1 victory at TWU. Trenadey Scott leads the LSC in points (32) and goals (14), and is fourth in assists (4).
 
History between TWU and ASU
ASU holds an all-time 16-8-1 edge over the Pioneers, and the first game in TWU program history was versus ASU where the Belles took a 5-0 win on Aug. 30, 2002.
In 2016, the Belles ended TWU's season during the first round of the LSC tournament by making one more penalty kick than the Pioneers in the 2-2 double overtime finish.

DENTON, Texas (Oct. 8, 2017) - Allie Chapman scored in the 28th minute for Texas Woman's University, but Angelo State tallied three goals for a 3-1 Pioneer loss Sunday afternoon at TWU Soccer Field.
The Pioneers (4-6-2, 1-4-1 LSC) and Belles (7-2-1, 4-1-1 LSC) matched each other with 15 shots apiece throughout the contest, while TWU recorded nine shots on goal to ASU's six. The afternoon was a tale of two halves for the Pioneers, as they fired off 10 shots in the first period compared to five in the second and allowed the majority of the goals by the Belles after halftime.
