About the Pioneers
TWU is predicted to finish fifth in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll after recording a 9-8-2 overall record last season and a 5-7 mark in Lone Star Conference play. The Pioneers return Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Women's Soccer All-South Central Region First Teamer senior midfielder Chelsea Martin.

About No. 9 Colorado School of Mines
The Orediggers are predicted to win the RMAC after winning their sixth straight tournament championship title and fourth consecutive regular season championship title last year. Mines possesses the RMAC Preseason Player and Defensive Player of the Year Emily Garnier and Preseason All-RMAC Emily Townsend, Taylor McRae and Acacia Ortiz.

History between TWU and CSM
Mines has taken both victories in the two matchups. The Orediggers captured a 2-0 win during the 2010 season and a 1-0 triumph in 2015. This will be the first time Mines has traveled to Denton, as the previous matches were held on the Orediggers' home turf.

Last meeting of the Pioneers and Orediggers
GOLDEN, Colo. (Sept. 13, 2015) – TWU senior goalkeeper Ariana Morrison tied her career-high with 10 saves but it wasn't enough as the Pioneers fell to the host Colorado School of Mines, 1-0, Sunday afternoon.
For the second straight game the Pioneers allowed a late second half goal for the loss.  TWU is now 2-2-1 on the season.
In the first half the Pioneers could not get anything going on offense as they were outshot, 10-0.  TWU's defense, however, held the Orediggers to just three shots on goal in the first 45 minutes and kept the game scoreless at the half.
In the second half both teams went back and forth with scoring opportunities.  The Pioneers almost found the net in the 66th minute when junior Nancy Chavez had an opportunity to score but a diving stop by the Orediggers' goalie kept TWU off the scoreboard.
Colorado School of Mines capitalized on a misplayed ball by the Pioneers' defense to take a 1-0 lead in the 79th minute.  Jaclyn Knott scored her first goal of the season for the Orediggers. The Orediggers finished the game with a 21-6 advantage in shots but TWU had a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Pioneers to help Hurricane Harvey victims
The student-athletes at Texas Woman's University will be accepting monetary donations and supplies on behalf of TWU for the victims of Hurricane Harvey, including those affected on the TWU Houston campus. Donations will be collected at the Pioneer soccer games Friday, Sept.1 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. by TWU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
