ST. CHARLES, Mo. –
Daisy Woodring fell just shy of a career-high on the balance beam, capturing an event title with a 9.800 score, while
Domi Bonzagni won the all-around with a score of 38.875, leading the way as the Texas Woman's University gymnastics team posted its highest score of the 2021 season, falling 195.250-194.750 at Lindenwood on Sunday.
"It was great to see the team competing with so much confidence and joy today," said head coach
Lisa Bowerman. "I am proud of how they responded after Friday's meet, and looking forward to seeing how they use this meet as a building block for the next few weeks of the season."
All in all, nine career-high marks were either tied or re-set for the Pioneers in today's competition.
The Pioneers turned in a consistent team effort, with team scores ranging from a low of 48.400 on the bars to a high of 48.975 on the floor.
Woodring and
Steelie King turned in matching 9.800s on the vault to tie for second, while
Mara Johnson added a 9.775 to finish tied for fifth and
Madeline Gose scored 9.725 to tie for eighth. The scores posted by King, Johnson, and Gose all represented career highs.
King set another career-high on bars with a 9.725, finishing third, while
Paige Stuyniski added a 9.700 to tie for fourth.
On beam, Bonzagni followed Woodring's event-leading score with a 9.725, finishing sixth, while Gose added a career-high 9.700 and
Alix Pierce added her own 9.700 to finish in a tie for seventh.
On floor, all six Pioneers cleared the 9.700 mark, with Pierce matching a career high set during her time at Seattle Pacific with a 9.825, finishing third. Bonzagni, Gose, and Johnson all posted matching career-high 9.800 scores to tie for fourth (Bonzagni's mark tied a career high while Gose and Johnson's scores established a new high mark), while
Isabel Goyco finished eighth with a 9.750 and Stuyniski made her floor debut, finishing ninth with a 9.725.
The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, February 7, traveling to Shreveport, La. For a tri-match featuring Centenary and Air Force. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
