DENTON, Texas – Fans of the Texas Woman's University gymnastics team will have an opportunity for a first look at the Pioneers gymnastics squad on Sunday, December 5, as TWU gymnastics hosts its annual Holiday Spectacular at 2 p.m. inside Kitty Magee Arena.
"We are beyond thrilled to have the Holiday Spectacular back this year," TWU gymnastics head coach
Lisa Bowerman said. "It has been a signature event in the Denton community for many years, and after having to miss last year's, it makes this one extra special."
In conjunction with the Holiday Spectacular, the TWU Artistic Swimming program will also be hosting an exhibition of its own inside the Pioneer Hall pool area, beginning at 1 p.m.
"Artistic Swimming is so excited to be a part of the TWU Holiday Spectacular," TWU artistic swimming head coach
Sara Lilly said. "The athletes have been working hard to develop fun routines that will hopefully get the audience in the holiday spirit and excited about the upcoming season. Happy Holidays from TWU Artistic Swimming!"
Artistic Swimming will also be joined in the pool area at 1 p.m. by TWU Pioneer Pride dance team. The Pioneer Pride will perform their routine on the pool deck preceding the Artistic Swimming program. Then, the two teams will perform a routine together to close their portion of the exhibition.
"The Holiday Spectacular has been a wonderful Denton holiday tradition for years," TWU Pioneer Pride head coach
Allison Fields said. "It is a huge honor for us to be included! We are excited to be part of this day to support the award-winning TWU Gymnastics team and perform alongside our brand-new Artistic Swimming team."
The first 250 fans in attendance will receive free t-shirts, and fans will have the opportunity to take pictures with Santa following the event.
Two full teams of lineups from the 2022 Pioneers gymnastics squad will perform routines to give fans a sneak peek at this year's team.
"This team has worked extremely hard throughout the entire fall, and we are looking forward to showing the result of that hard work in Kitty Magee Arena on December 5," Bowerman said. "I think our fans will be impressed by the talent and depth of this 2022 team, and I hope we can pack Kitty Magee Arena for this free event to kick off what I believe will be an extraordinary season for Pioneer Gymnastics."
Admission is free to the public and the event will be live-streamed at
