DENTON, Texas –
Madeline Gose hit a career-high 9.850 on beam to tie for third, along with matching 9.800s on floor and vault, while
Domi Bonzagni tied her career high with a 9.750 on bars, leading the way for the Texas Woman's University gymnastics team as the Pioneers finished second in a tri-meet against No. 2 Oklahoma and Centenary.
The Sooners scored 197.950 to finish first, while the Pioneers turned in a 192.225 to beat Centenary's 189.575.
"Today was not the complete performance that we needed as a team," said head coach
Lisa Bowerman. "But, I am so proud of how Goose and Daisy continue to improve each and every week and compete confidently and consistently week to week."
Daisy Woodring matched Gose with a 9.800 on vault to tie for seventh, while
Mara Johnson also turned in a 9.700 to tie for ninth. Bonzagni led the way on bars with a 9.750 to sit alone in sixth, while
Steelie King hit a 9.725 to tie for seventh.
Gose's career-high mark on beam was joined by a 9.725 seventh-place finish from
Alix Pierce, and on floor,
Isabel Goyco returned with a 9.875 to tie for fourth, while Woodring hit a 9.825 to finish sixth, Gose's 9.800 placed her seventh, and Bonzagni's 9.750 put her alone in ninth.
The competition was the final competition inside Kitty Magee Arena for seniors
Paige Stuyniski and
Bridgette Peterson.
"I am grateful that we were able to honor Paige and Bridgette today on their Senior Day," said Bowerman. "Both of them have given so much to our program over the last four years. They are incredible leaders both in and out of the gym and truly embody all that TWU Gymnastics represents. KMA won't be the same without them out there on the floor."
The Pioneers conclude the regular season on Friday, March 12, traveling to Shreveport, La. for a dual meet against Centenary. A 6 p.m. meet is scheduled.
