DENTON, Texas (Nov. 23, 2022) – For just the second time program history, the Texas Woman's basketball team debuts on the D2SIDA National Poll at No. 23.

The DSIDA Poll has been around for nine seasons. During the regular season, the regional poll is released every Monday, and the national poll is released every Tuesday, until the NCAA begins releasing its rankings later in the season.

While Texas Woman's became a mainstay on the regional poll last season, after several notable wins, they have not appeared on the National Poll since the 2016 season.

After receiving votes in the first two weeks of the poll, TWU entered the national list at No. 23, just ahead of Augustana at No. 24 and Jefferson at No. 25.

The Pioneers are one of three teams from the Lone Star Conference represented in the D2SIDA National poll. West Texas A&M is ranked No. 5, and Lubbock Christian comes in at No. 16.

TWU moved up one spot in the regional ranking this week, passing Colorado School of Mines, to rank No. 3 in the South Central Region. Above TWU in the region, West Texas A&M is ranked No. 1, and Lubbock Christian is No. 2.

Currently, the Pioneers are also receiving votes in the WBCA National Poll.

This past week, the Pioneers went 2-1. They lost in overtime to Harding, 74-70, on Wednesday, Nov. 16. Then, TWU went 2-0 at the Ashbrook Classic hosted by Midwestern State, beating East Central 70-68 and Southeastern Oklahoma State 72-63.

"I am so proud of how hard our team worked to prepare for this season and how hard they continue to work to improve every day," TWU Head Coach Beth Jillson said. "Our entire roster brings their best to the court every opportunity they get. This ranking is really a testament to their hard work. We are excited to continue to take advantage of every moment this season."

TWU will have another opportunity to play this Saturday, Nov. 26 at 2 p.m. in Kitty Magee Arena against Henderson State.
