SHREVEPORT, La. –
Domi Bonzagni posted a season high on bars while tying her season high on beam,
Mara Johnson tied her season high on bars, and
Daisy Woodring made a strong season debut on floor as the Texas Woman's University gymnastics team concluded their regular season with a 194.825-191.575 victory over Centenary on Saturday inside the Gold Dome.
"This was a solid meet to finish out the regular season," said head coach
Lisa Bowerman. "We continue to work together to build confidence as a team and to grow our depth as we head into post season."
The Pioneers opened on bars, with
Steelie King's 9.800 pacing TWU and providing a second-place finish.
Mara Johnson followed in third with a season-best 9.750, while
Isabel Goyco tied for fourth with a 9.725. Bonzagni's 9.625 was a sixth-place finish, setting a season-high for the senior, as TWU posted a 48.350 on bars.
TWU moved to vault, and posted a 48.700 behind a first-place 9.825 by
Daisy Woodring. The Pioneers claimed the first three positions as
Madeline Gose finished second with a 9.775 and
Emerson Adams came in third with a 9.750. Johnson tied for fourth with a 9.725.
Madeline Gose anchored floor with a strong 9.850 to finish first, while Goyco finished second with a 9.825. Bonzagni and Johnson tied for third with matching 9.775s. Woodring and
Sierra Muns added 9.725s to tie for seventh.
Finishing on beam, the Pioneers claimed or shared each of the top five positions, with Gose and King both posting 9.850s to tie for first. Bonzagni and
Emily Six added 9.725s to tie for third, while Mackenzie Kunzman's 9.675 placed her in a tie for fifth.
TWU returns to action on Friday, March 18, hosting the Midwest Independent Conference championships inside Kitty Magee Arena. A 5 p.m. meet time is scheduled.
