DENTON, Texas (April 14, 2022) – Randi Miller continues to build her inaugural class of Texas Woman's University wrestlers with talented student-athletes.
On Thursday, April 14, Miller announced the signing of seven athletes to join the first class of Pioneer wrestlers in Fall 2022.
From Flower Mound High School, Poorna Babu joins the Pioneers as the first female wrestler to sign to a collegiate program in Flower Mound High School history. Babu ended her UIL season with a fifth-place finish in the tournament and helped lead the Lady Jags to a ninth-place team finish out of 72 teams. During her high school career, Babu won multiple first place medals in her weight class and wrestled with the All-American Wrestling Club.
Alexis Edwards, from Harker Heights, Texas, wrestled for four years at Harker Heights High School. During her high school career, Edwards was a three-time regional qualifier, a four-time tournament champion, a district champion and fifth-place regional finisher.
Also joining TWU, Jermariah Ferguson grew up in Katy, Texas and wrestled for four years at Mayde Creek High School. Ferguson was a district champion in her weight class this year and also served as the team captain. While excelling in her sport, Ferguson also excels in the classroom. During her senior year, she served as the secretary for the Social Studies Honor Society and will graduate in the top 10% in her class.
A native of Temple, Texas, Natasha Hills comes to TWU as a multi-sport high school athlete. While she attended Temple High School, Hills wrestled for four years, played softball for two years, powerlifted for two years, played golf for one year and played soccer for one year. Hills is also a member of the National Honor Society and Army ROTC.
Haven Hoang, from Keller, Texas, will be a Pioneer in Fall 2022. Hoang wrestled for five years prior to joining the Pioneer family.
From just down the road in Dallas, Texas, Destiny Miles wrestled and ran track at Justin F. Kimball High School, where she was an All-State honoree.
A graduate of Ellison High School in Killeen, Texas, Faith Perez wrestled for four years in high school. During her high school career, she was a two-time district champion, a two-time state qualifier, a second-place regional finisher and a National All-American. Outside of wrestling, Perez is also involved in leadership academy and student council.
The Pioneers will begin their first season of competition in Fall 2022.
