RICHARDSON, Texas (June 16, 2022) – Isabel Goyco, a member of Texas Woman's University gymnastics, was selected as the Lone Star Scholar Athlete recipient from TWU for the 2021-22 academic school year, the league announced Thursday.
 
Goyco graduated summa cum laude this spring with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in Art and Finance.
 
As a TWU gymnast, Goyco won two individual floor USA Gymnastics National titles. During her senior season, she secured her second national title by scoring a career-high 9.950 on the floor exercise.
 
In 2022, Goyco also helped lead her team to the Midwest Independent Conference title and the program's 12th USAG National Championship.
 
In her junior season with TWU, Goyco won the individual floor national title and competed in NCAA Regionals.
 
Goyco was also named the MIC Woman of the Year in 2022.
 
The LSC selects one female and one male to receive the Scholar-Athlete Award from each member institution, following the conclusion of every academic year. To be eligible, the student-athlete must have participated in at least two years in their sport and be a member of the graduating class.
 
According to the LSC, "these student-athletes are selected as representatives of the outstanding accomplishments in athletics, scholarship and leadership that are displayed on each LSC campus during the year."
