DENTON, Texas (Nov. 15, 2023) – On the first release of the D2CSC Women's Basketball National Poll, the Texas Woman's basketball team is ranked in the Top 10.

TWU (5-0) was ranked No. 24 on the WBCA Preseason Poll. Now, after five wins on their resume including two against Top 15 opponents, the Pioneers are ranked No. 6 on the D2CSC Women's Basketball National Poll.

"I am proud of our team's commitment to bringing their best and working hard each and every day," TWU Basketball Head Coach Beth Jillson said. "We have started off the season with strong opponents, and each of our players have been resilient in meeting those challenges. The rankings really reflect our team's continued focus on being winning teammates and having a positive mindset, which has translated to success on the court. We look forward to continuing to bring our best and improve in each and every opportunity."

On the final ranking of the D2CSC National Poll last season, TWU was ranked No. 18.

The Pioneers have started off the season 5-0 for the first time since the 2008-09 season. In their opening weekend at the D2CCA Tipoff Classic, TWU defeated No. 15 Montana State Billings, No. 2 Minnesota State Mankato and University of Mary. Then, the Pioneers returned home and defeated Western Colorado by 19 points and MSU Denver by 30 points.

TWU has celebrated back-to-back weekly conference award honorees, as Ashley Ingram and Leila Patel were both honored as Lone Star Conference Offensive Players of the Week. In LSC individual stats, Ingram currently ranks sixth in points (19.4 points per game) and first in field goal percentage (70.2% per game). Patel ranks 11th in scoring (15.6 points per game) and 12th in field goal percentage (47.3% per game).

Lubbock Christian joined the Pioneers as the only other LSC school to be ranked in the Top 25, as the Lady Chaps were ranked No. 22. From the South Central Region, Regis, a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference member, joined TWU and LCU on the poll at No. 15.

The No. 6 ranking marks TWU's highest national ranking of the season. They will meet Colorado School of Mines for their next game on Thursday, Nov. 16.
