DENTON, Texas (Dec. 29, 2023) – For their final game of 2023, the Texas Woman's basketball team will meet UT Tyler at home in Kitty Magee Arena.
TWU (10-2, 4-0) returns to Lone Star Conference action after falling to Harding in a non-conference contest on Dec. 19, 72-71. The Pioneers meet LSC opponent UT Tyler (10-3, 4-0) on Saturday – a battle of the only two undefeated LSC teams.
In the last release of the national polls on Dec. 19, the Pioneers were ranked third on the D2CSC National Poll and fifth on the WBCA National Poll.
Most recently, the Patriots defeated Southern Arkansas in a non-conference meeting on Dec. 19, 67-59.
The Pioneers and the Patriots will tip off at 2 p.m. in Kitty Magee Arena.

- TOP ARTISTS: The Pioneers average 72 points per game. In scoring, they are led by Ashley Ingram, who averages 18.1 points per game. Along with Ingram, four Pioneers currently average double-digit points per game – Leila Patel (12.7), Jada Celsur (11.7) and Scout Huffman (10.8). The Patriots are led in scoring by No. 10 Tina Machalova with 13.2 points per game. No. 25 Ella Bradley is the only other Patriot to average double-digits, as she scores 10.3 points per game.
- TOP GENRE: Both teams score at a high percentage. The Pioneers are averaging 44.2% from the field per game, while UT Tyler is shooting 45.7% from the field per game. TWU owns the slight advantage from the three point line, as they shoot 31.8% per game from beyond the arc and the Patriots shoot 29.8% from the three. While both teams shoot well on offense, they also both rank in the top five of the LSC in defense.
- TOP SONG: TWU ranks No. 1 in the LSC and No. 16 in the NCAA Division II in assist/turnover ratio, 1.14. The Pioneers currently average 13.8 assists per game and 12.2 turnovers per game. Protecting the ball and sharing the wealth will be key in Saturday's game. On the other side, the Patriots average 15.2 assists per game and 15 turnovers per game for a ration of 1.02. TWU will look to force UT Tyler into more turnovers on Saturday.
