DENTON, Texas (Dec. 7, 2023)— It's the most wonderful time of the year, and the Texas Woman's basketball team is back in Kitty Magee Arena on Thursday night to face Western New Mexico at 6 p.m.
TWU (8-1, 2-0) returns home after a three-game road trip for their Lone Star Conference contest against WNMU (6-0, 2-0).
The Pioneers opened their LSC slate last week, defeating Midwestern State and Cameron. On the other side, the Mustangs also went 2-0 in their conference opening week, beating St. Mary's and St. Edward's at home.
TWU will tip off with the Mustangs at 6 p.m. in KMA.

- MUSTANG LEADERS: WNMU is currently undefeated to start the season. They average 65.2 points per game and shoot 40.8% from the field. They are led in points by No. 12 Sydney Wright, who averages 12 points per game and shoots 40% from the field. On the boards, the Mustangs average 39.2 rebounds per game. Their leading rebounder is No. 33 Diamond Moore, who averages eight boards per game.
- PIONEER POWER: The Pioneers currently average 72.7 points per game and are defeating their opponents by 11 points per game. They are currently shooting 44% from the field. TWU has four Pioneers who average double-digit points per game – Scout Huffman, Jada Celsur, Leila Patel and Ashley Ingram. Ingram leads all Pioneer scorers with 17.8 points per game. The Pioneers average 39.7 rebounds per game, and are also led by Ingram in this category with 8.7 per game.
- BACK IN TIME: TWU and WNMU have met 10 times overall, and the Pioneers have won nine of those meetings. In their last meeting in 2022, TWU defeated the Mustangs 56-53 on the road. During the 2021-22 season, the two teams met in Denton, Texas, and TWU won 53-35. Scout Huffman led the Pioneers in that meeting with 19 points.
