DALLAS, Texas (Feb. 18, 2023) – Texas Woman's STUNT closed out the weekend confident in their ability to improve day-by-day.

This weekend the Pioneers traveled to Dallas, Texas to compete in the Dallas Baptist Tournament, their first tournament of the 2023 campaign.

On Friday, Feb. 17, the Pioneers hit the floor against Concordia College and DBU. Game one ended 22-3 with the Pioneers recording three points. Shortly after, DBU defeated the Pioneers 23-2.

On Saturday, Feb. 18, the Pioneers battled William Jessup and continued to excel in jumps and tumbling, earning four points in the third quarter. The Pioneers recorded seven points to the Warriors' 22 points.

"We learned from missteps yesterday by looking over every small detail, especially in our jumps and tumbling," said Head Coach
Jasmine Owens. "I am proud of the points earned but even prouder of the competitive mindset and uplifting attitude from the team today!"

Several Pioneers emerged as top scorers, competing in routines where the Pioneers scored, including:Â
Kara Abram,
Kailen Smalls,
Anna Cheek, and
Kaitlin Abanto all scoring six points.
Aiyannah Oliver made an impression and registered seven points as the Pioneers leading scorer.Â

The Pioneers will be headed to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for their second tournament this season. On Friday, March 3, the Pioneers will compete against Oklahoma Baptist and Missouri Baptist, then again on Saturday, March 4 against St. Mary's.
