PIONEERS WELCOME IOWA STATE AND NEW HAMPSHIRE FOR SUNDAY AFTERNOON TRI-MEET

DENTON, Texas (Feb. 4, 2023) – The Texas Woman's gymnastics team returns home to Kitty Magee Arena for a Sunday afternoon matinee tri-meet against Iowa State and New Hampshire at 2 p.m.
 
Last week, the Pioneers were on the road in Missouri for a pair of meets. On Friday, Jan. 27, TWU met fellow Midwest Independent Conference opponent Southeast Missouri State in a dual meet. The Pioneers finished with a 193. 325.
 
Then, on Sunday, Jan. 29, the Pioneers competed at Lindenwood against the Lions and the University of Missouri Tigers. TWU scored a season-high 194.350 to place second over fellow MIC member Lindenwood.
 
TWU will be back in KMA for the first time since their 2023 home opener on Friday, Jan. 20.

  • Make sure to arrive early and sign up for the Pioneers free post meet kids' clinic, which is open to the first 100 girls to sign-up in the lobby prior to the meet.

PRE-MEET WARM-UP
 
  • A LOOK AT THE CYCLONES: Iowa State has competed in four meets this season. Most recently, the Cyclones competed in a dual meet against Oklahoma on Friday, Feb. 3 and scored a 195.875, their season high. Against OU, the Cyclones scored a season high 49.125 on bars to open the day. Iowa State posted their highest individual score of the day on bars with a 9.875 from Laura Cooke.
  • A LOOK AT THE WILDCATS: The Wildcats have also competed in four meets so far in the 2023 season. They scored a season-high on Friday, Jan. 20 in a quad meet hosted by Towson. With a 195.275. UNH won the meet over Towson, West Virginia and West Chester. In their last meet on Sunday, Jan. 29, UNH hosted a home meet and scored a 192.750. Their top performer was Kylie Gorgenyi, who scored a career-high 9.900 on bars.
  • WEEKLY HONORS: The Pioneers had two gymnasts receive Midwest Independent Conference weekly honors. With her return from injury, Steelie King reentered the beam lineup and received the Coaches Choice Award. Against SEMO, Maddie Griffith scored a career-high 9.850 on bars to win the event. Griffith received the Performance of the Week for her career high.
