DALLAS, Texas (May 1, 2023) – At the 2023 Division II STUNT National Championships this past weekend, Texas Woman's Director of Athletics Sandee Mott was honored for her outstanding contribution to STUNT over the past year.

Mott was named the 2023 Outstanding Contributor for STUNT.

"Sandee has been a constant and confident supporter of STUNT since my start on campus," TWU Head STUNT Coach Jasmine Owens said. "This past year, she took the time to spread the word and speak on why this sport is something special, helping us reach NCAA emerging sport status for Division ll. There is no one more deserving!"

On January 14, 2023, Proposal 2023-6 was passed at the NCAA Convention, making STUNT an emerging sport for women in NCAA Division II. STUNT joined women's rugby, wrestling, acrobatics and tumbling, equestrian and triathlon as emerging sports in Division II.

According to the NCAA, the Emerging Sports for Women program increases the available opportunities for women to participate in collegiate athletics. Once emerging sports enter the program, they must meet the designated criteria and the legislation must be adopted for the NCAA to establish a championship for the sport.

Emerging sports status for STUNT in Division II will take effect in August 2023, while Division I and III voted unanimously in February 2023 to recommend moving forward with STUNT as an emerging sport.

Currently, all national championships for STUNT are sponsored by USA Cheer and STUNT the Sport.

STUNT is widely regarded as "one of the fastest growing female sports in the country."

Currently, four schools, including TWU, within the Lone Star Conference sponsor STUNT and 65 collegiate programs across various divisions sponsor the sport.
