LUBBOCK, Texas (Sept. 16, 2023) – The Texas Woman's volleyball team will meet UT Permian Basin on the final day of the LSC Crossover Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m.
 
TWU (7-3) and UTPB (9-1) remain the only two teams undefeated at the LSC Crossover. The Pioneers have swept their two opponents this weekend, Oklahoma Christian and Lubbock Christian.
 
The Falcons have taken both OC and LCU to five sets to win at the LSC Crossover, and the Falcons are currently on a six match win streak, having not lost since Sept. 2 against Angelo State.
 
TWU will look to extend their win streak to five today, and their sweep streak to four matches against UTPB.

AWESOME AFTERNOON PLANS

• A LOOK AT THE FALCONS: In their last two matches at the LSC Crossover, the Falcons have won in five sets. Against LCU on Thursday, UTPB trailed 1-0, before winning the second and third set. Then, they dropped the fourth set and had to come back and win set five 15-11. On Friday against OC, the Falcons had to win three straight sets after falling behind 2-0 to close out the Eagles. The fatigue from five sets may play a factor in the early matchup with the Pioneers on Saturday. Chyra Thompson led the Falcons in kills with 12 and blocks with eight. Devin Alcoset topped the Falcon leader board with 22 assists, and Gabby Gregorski led with 16 digs.
• BY THE HISTORY BOOKS: TWU owns the all-time record against the Falcons 8-6. In the past five matches, the winner has traded – most recently in 2022, the Pioneers fell to the Falcons in Odessa, Texas in four sets. The last time the two teams met at a neutral site was in 2009 in Stephenville, Texas, and the Pioneers swept the Falcons.
• DEFENSE IS KEY: In the past two matches, TWU has held their opponents to hitting below .100. They have averaged 9.5 blocks per game over their last two victories. Against OC, Cara Pool led the Pioneers in blocks with six block assists. Then, against LCU, Kady Hansen topped the leader board with six block assists. In digs, Luna França leads TWU with back-to-back double digit performances – 15 against OC and 14 against LCU. Defense will be key against the Falcons today.
