AUSTIN, Texas (Sept. 23, 2023) – After a match last night, the Texas Woman's volleyball team looks to continue to ride their winning streak with the quick turnaround match against St. Edwards this afternoon.
TWU (9-3, 1-0) opened LSC play with a win over St. Mary's on Friday in four sets. In their conference opener, also last night, St. Edward's (5-8, 1-0) defeated Midwestern State to start their LSC slate off with a win.
On Friday, SEU swept Midwestern State after falling to the Mustangs in four sets on Sept. 16.
Saturday marks the first match the Pioneers have played in Austin, Texas since the 2013 season – a match which the Pioneers won 3-1.
TWU will look to extend their winning streak to seven on the season and two in LSC play against the Hilltoppers.

AUSTIN AWAY GAME
- LSC STATS: The Pioneers currently rank second in hitting percentage on the season in the LSC with a .251 percentage, while the Hilltoppers come in at No. 15, averaging .133 on the season. In points, TWU ranks third with an average of 16.98 points per set. SEU averages 15.06 points per set, which ranks 13th in the LSC. While SEU does not hit a high percentage, they hold their opponents to hitting just .155 on average, which ranks fifth in the LSC. Nevertheless, the Pioneers rank third in kills, averaging 13.51 per set.
- A LONG HISTORY: TWU and SEU have a long history playing each other, dating back to 1987. The Hilltoppers own the all-time record 11-8. The Pioneers are 2-5 on the road against SEU and 5-5 in their last 10 matchups. In 2022, TWU lost to SEU in four sets at home in KMA, which broke a previous five game win streak. The Pioneers will look to return to the win column against the Hilltoppers on Saturday.
- A LOOK AT THE LEADERS: TWU currently has two of the top five highest hitting percentages in the LSC. Cara Pool ranks first, hitting .412, and Kady Hansen ranks fourth hitting .390. On the other side, SEU has one player ranked in the top five in one category. Senior libero Sarah Konovodoff comes in at second on the LSC leader board in digs, averaging 5.52 per set.
