DENTON, Texas (Sept. 29, 2023) – After a long road trip, the Texas Woman's volleyball team finally returns home to Kitty Magee Arena on Sept. 30 to face UT Permian Basin in a Lone Star Conference match.
TWU (10-4, 2-1) will meet UTPB (9-3, 0-1) for the second time this season but first time in LSC action. The two teams met previously at the LSC Crossover in Lubbock, TX on Sept. 16, and the Pioneers swept the Falcons.
In matches this week, TWU fell to Angelo State on Wednesday, Sept. 27 in four sets, while the Falcons play tonight against Midwestern State at 6 p.m.
The Pioneers will look to return to the win column in front of their home crowd on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.

- LSC STATS: TWU currently ranks in the top five in the LSC in four categories. The Pioneers are third in points (16.92 per set), third in hitting percentage (.241), fourth in assists (12.51 per set) and third in kills (13.45 per set). The Falcons rank fourth in service aces (1.78 per set). On the other side, UTPB allows the third fewest kills from their opponents and holds opponents to the third-lowest hitting percentage in the LSC. Individually, for TWU, Cara Pool ranks second in the LSC in hitting percentage, averaging .392 on the season. For UTPB, April Egwu ranks first in blocks, averaging 1.28 per set.
- BLAST FROM THE PAST: With their most recent win this season, the Pioneers hold the all-time record over the Falcons, 9-6. Since 2017, TWU and UTPB have traded matches. The Pioneers last defeated the Falcons in Denton, Texas in 2021, when the Pioneers won in five sets.
- LAST MEETING: In their last meeting this season, the Pioneers swept the Falcons. Kaia Saylor, Tori Woods and Malia Viernes each finished with double-digit kills, as the Pioneers hit .315 on the match. The Pioneers led with eight aces to UTPB's zero. Kiana Reed led TWU with three aces. TWU held the Falcons to just 37 kills and a .218 hitting percentage. They will look to keep the winning streak going against the Falcons on Saturday.
