DENTON, Texas (Jan. 16, 2024) – After their two wins over Lone Star Conference opponents, the Texas Woman's basketball team remained ranked in the Top 25 on the
Women's Basketball Coaches Top 25 Poll this week.
TWU (14-3, 8-1) defeated St. Mary's and St. Edward's on the road last week. On the WBCA Top 25 Poll, they moved up two spots from No. 16 to No. 14 this week.
The Pioneers are joined on the WBCA Poll by two South Central Regional opponents. Colorado School of Mines (14-1) moved up one spot to seventh, and Texas A&M International (15-2), who TWU will meet this week, jumped two spots to No. 19 this week.
UT Tyler (15-3) was receiving votes on the poll.
On the
D2CSC National Poll, the Pioneers were ranked 25th last week and were receiving votes this week, but did not make the Top 25.
From the South Central Region, Colorado School of Mines was ranked sixth and TAMIU was ranked 17th, while UT Tyler came in at No. 13 this week after being ranked 17th on last week's poll.
The D2CSC Regional Poll tabbed the Pioneers in the fifth spot this week, after being ranked fourth previously. Colorado School of Mines ranks first, UT Tyler is second, TAMIU comes in at third and Lubbock Christian (12-3) moved up to fourth this week.
Grand Valley State (14-1) still holds steady at No. 1 on both national polls. Ashland (14-1) ranks second on the WBCA Poll, while the lone undefeated team Southern Nazarene (14-0) ranks second on the D2CSC National Poll.
The Pioneers currently rank first in the LSC and 18th in Division II in team field goal percentage, averaging 45.4% from the field per game. TWU also ranks in the top three in offense and defense in the LSC, as the Pioneers score the third most amount of points per game, 72.5, and hold their opponents to the third fewest number of points per game, 60.8.
