SHREVEPORT, La. (Jan. 21, 2024) – The Texas Woman's gymnastics team continues their 2024 season on the road today at fellow Midwest Independent Conference opponent Centenary on Sunday.
In their season opener last week on Jan. 12, the Pioneers set a new program record for team score in a season opener, scoring a 193.775 at the quad meet hosted by Illinois State.
Centenary began their season at Southeast Missouri State on Jan. 12. The Ladies opened their season with a 181.325 at SEMO.
Tomorrow's meet will promote Cancer Awareness, as the gymnasts will wear different color ribbons to bring awareness to those affected by cancer.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN
- LEADERS LAST MEET: In their season opening meet, the highest individual score came from Daisy Woodring on floor, who led the Pioneers with a 9.825. The overall best event for TWU was bars, where they scored a 48.875. Caroline Bowns, reigning MIC Newcomer of the Week, and Kaitlyn Hoiland led the Pioneers on the uneven bars with a pair of 9.800's. Hoiland also led TWU on the vault with a 9.800.
- PIONEERS IN SHREVEPORT: The Pioneers are 32-2 all time when competing against Centenary. Last season on the road in Shreveport, TWU scored a 191.700. Their highest rotation score of that meet was the vault, and they were led by Daisy Woodring with a 9.825. TWU will look to continue their winning ways on Sunday and improve upon last week's score.
- NEWCOMERS SHINE BRIGHT: Last week at Illinois State, the TWU newcomers shined bright under the meet lights in their first meet with the Pioneers. As mentioned above, Bowns was named Newcomer of the Week after scoring a 9.800 on bars, a 9.675 on vault and exhibitioning on floor. Freshman Aaliyah Gilmore debuted on bars and scored a 9.750. Emma Brkljacic, a transfer, led the Pioneers on the beam with a 9.775. Hoiland, as mentioned above, topped two categories for TWU, in her first meet after transferring to TWU.
