ROAD TRIP
TRIPLE THREAT
- SHORT HISTORY: The Pioneers and Lady Chaps have only met eight times in program history. In those eight meetings, TWU is 2-6. Last season, the Pioneers met LCU three times – once in the regular season and twice in the postseason. TWU won the regular season meeting in Denton, Texas. Then, they beat the Lady Chaps in Frisco, Texas in the semifinal round of the LSC Championships, but they would fall to LCU in the first round of the NCAA Regional Tournament. On the road, the Pioneers are 0-3 against the Lady Chaps. A win in Lubbock on Saturday would mark the first win there for the Pioneers in program history.
- TOP TWO DEFENSES: Saturday will be a meeting between the second and third best defenses in the LSC. The Lady Chaps currently rank second in defense, only allowing their opponents to score 57.1 points on average. The Pioneers sit closely behind in third, as they allow their opponents to score just 60.2 points per game. On the other side, LCU ranks ninth in offense with an average of 65.8 points per game. TWU has the advantage in offensive production, scoring 71.9 points per game. Both teams also hold the top two field goal percentages in the LSC. LCU ranks first with a 45% field goal percentage, and TWU ranks second, shooting 44.8% from the field.
- DEFEND THE THREE: LCU ranks first in the LSC in team three point field goal percentage with a 39.7% average from beyond the arc. The Pioneers rank second in lowest opponent three point field goal percentage, as they hold their opponents to shooting 27.4% from the three point line. Limiting the Lady Chaps three point opportunities will be key on Saturday.
