DENTON, Texas (Oct 11, 2024) – The Texas Woman's soccer team will host Texas A&M International tomorrow night, at 7 p.m., as they look to jump the Dustdevils in the Lone Star Conference standings. TWU is ninth in the standings, while TAMIU is one spot ahead of the Pioneers.
This match will be TWU's fourth home game this season as they take on Texas A&M International after a road draw with Oklahoma Christian on Wednesday night. The two teams will match up for the seventh time ever as the Pioneers lead the series 5-0-1. In their last encounter in Laredo, Texas, TWU emerged victorious with a 2-0 win over the Dustdevils. In 2022, the two teams tied 1-1 in their latest battle at Pioneer Soccer Park in Denton, Texas.

A LOOK AT THE DUSTDEVILS: TAMIU currently has a 3-4-3 record this season. In their last outing, the Dustdevils suffered a 1-0 defeat against Angelo State at home in Laredo, Texas. Before the loss, Texas A&M International was on a two game win streak after defeating Sul Ross State and West Texas A&M for combined scores of 5-1. TAMIU enters this matchup with the Pioneers with a 2-1-1 away record as they aim to get that third road victory tomorrow night.

A LOOK AT THE PIONEERS: TWU are coming off a tough 0-0 draw against OC Wednesday night for their second one of the year. The Eagles were the aggressor in the match, but the Pioneers managed to slow down the pace of the Eagle offense despite being outshot 13-6. Senior goalkeeper Amanda Farris concluded the match with six saves to keep the game within reach til the final whistle. The Texas Woman's soccer team enters tomorrow's matchup with a 1-1-1 home record.

GET GOING EARLY AND STAY ACTIVE FOR 90 MINUTES: Despite being outshot in their last match, the Pioneers continued their trend of an early aggressive attack by getting the first shot of the game before the 10 minute mark. TWU has 110 total shots on the year and averages 12.2 a game, with a 44,5% shots on goal percentage. On the defensive end, the Pioneers are ranked third in the LSC in goals allowed, with only seven thus far in nine games and a .78 GA average.
