COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Oct. 17, 2024) – The Texas Woman's wrestling team was tied with Chadron State and Adams State to finish third in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Preseason Poll for the 2024-2025 season.
The RMAC Women's Wrestling Preseason Coaches' Poll is voted by the league's five head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their program.
TWU had another historic season last year as three Pioneers qualified for the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championship in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Texas Woman's is predicted to finish in third place along with Chadron State and Adams State, with all three schools earning seven points each. Simon Fraser is the favorite after receiving 15 points and three first place votes. Colorado Mesa established second in the preseason poll with 14 points and two first-place votes.
The Pioneers will visit Colorado Mesa at the Maverick Open in Grand Junction, Colo., on Saturday, Nov. 2, for their first official competition day of the 2024-25 season. The Mavericks will make the trip to Kitty Magee Arena in Denton on Sunday, Nov. 10, to face off against TWU.
TWU Wrestling added nine wrestlers to this year's roster and retained three returners who qualified for NCWWC Nationals last season: Jermariah Ferguson, Nari Miller, and Livier Dubon.
Next Friday, the Pioneers open their season with a Maroon and Black Intersquad at KMA on Oct. 25 at 6 p.m.
For the second time in program history, the Pioneers will host the NCWWC regional event on Saturday, Feb. 22.
