TWU RECORDS EIGHTH LSC WIN, AS THEY DEFEAT AGGIES

LAWTON, Okla. (Oct. 26, 2024) – On the road, the Texas Woman's volleyball team extended their win streak to eight straight matches, as they defeated Cameron on Saturday afternoon.

TWU (15-5, 8-2) dropped the first set to Cameron (1-21, 1-9) before winning the next three sets to claim their eighth win in Lone Star Conference action.

The win marked the 15th straight win against the Aggies for the Pioneers – a streak dating back to the 2015 season.

With just two losses in LSC action, the Pioneers sit in a tie for fourth place with Dallas Baptist. West Texas A&M remains atop the LSC standings as the only undefeated team remaining in the LSC.

IMPACT PLAYERS
  • Cara Pool led the Pioneers in the win with a season high 15 kills. She hit .429 on the afternoon. She also continued her strength on defense for the Pioneers, adding six block assists in the win. Pool finished the match with a season high 18 points.
  • Tori Woods joined Pool with double-digit kills, as she finished the match with 12 kills. Woods added 11 digs to her stat line to record her 12th double-double of the season and fourth in a row. Woods also added one ace and two block assists in the win.
  • Grace Reynolds dished out 30 assists and added 19 digs to record her 13th double-double of the season and fifth in row. The 19 digs marked a career high for Reynolds.
  • Myracle Stockman dominated the net defense for TWU, finishing the match with a career high six total blocks.
  • Payton Sandefer recorded a career high nine digs in the win.
  • From the service line, Marina Obradovic closed the afternoon with a career high two aces.
  • Luna França added a season high three aces and five points.
  • França led the Pioneers with 23 digs. She also added a career high two kills.
PIONEER POWER MOMENTS
  • The Pioneers finished the match with nine aces – their second most aces in a match this season. They also recorded 10 total blocks in the win, which marked their fourth match this season with double-digit blocks.
  • On the day, TWU hit .230 and held the Aggies to hitting just .086.
  • Cameron led for much of the first set. On a late 3-0 run, the Pioneers tied the set at 24 each off a kill by Woods. However, two attack errors by TWU ended the set in Cameron's favor, 26-24.
  • The Pioneers jumped out to an early 6-2 lead to start set two.
  • Cameron drew within two, 13-11, after scoring four unanswered points. TWU responded by going on a 7-0 run. The run was ignited by a kill from Woods. After scoring seven unanswered points, TWU led 20-12.
  • Despite allowing Cameron to string together some points late in set two, the Pioneers stayed focused. A kill by Kenn Jean-Louis brought up set point for TWU, 24-19. Then, a monster block by Pool and Stockman ended the set for the Pioneers, 25-19, to tie the match.
  • In set three, the score was back-and-forth to start. With the score locked at nine each, França successfully dumped it over the net to catch the Aggies off-guard and ignited an 8-0 run for TWU to increase their lead to 17-9.
  • The Pioneers would lead by 10 after another kill by França, 24-14.
  • A kill from Erin Jones would give TWU the set three win, 25-15.
  • TWU set the tone early in set four, as they took a decisive 10-5 lead.
  • Jones would later record a kill to kick off a 7-0 scoring run for the Pioneers to increase TWU's lead to 11, 17-6.
  • Another kill by Jones would bring up match point for TWU. Then, a kill by Clayre Pullin would end the match in exciting fashion for the Pioneers, 25-12.

NEXT UP

The Pioneers will return home for their next slate of LSC matches. The Pioneers will play Texas A&M – Kingsville in Kitty Magee Arena on Friday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. Then, TWU will meet Texas A&M International in KMA on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m.
