ALPINE, Texas (Oct. 28, 2024) – The Texas Woman's soccer team is on their way to Alpine for their ninth road match of the season as they take on the Lobos of Sul Ross State for the first time in history. The game kicks off tomorrow at noon.

The Pioneers (8-3-3, 4-2-3) aim to build on their previous victory over Texas Permian Basin at home as they face the Lobos (2-11-0, 0-9-0) on the road. TWU is 5-2-1 in away matches thus far and looks to improve to six road wins and boost their conference placement.

LONG ROAD AHEAD

TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS

  • A LOOK AT THE LOBOS: On Saturday, Oct. 26, Sul Ross State battled it out on Senior Day against Lubbock Christian in a 1-0 loss to the Lady Chaps. The matchup was pretty even until the 69th minute as LCU took the 1-0 lead that the Lobos could not overcome. SRSU are seeking their first conference win and hope to end their four game losing streak at Lobo Soccer Field.

  • A LOOK AT THE PIONEERS: TWU was on the other side of a 1-0 victory on Senior Day with a win over UTPB on Saturday. Sophomore forward Dani Pruitt scored her first goal of the year and picked up her second career goal after a feed from Bella Alfaro and Celeste Beltran to go up 11-0 in the second half. The Falcons could not overcome the deficit as Amanda Farris secured her ninth clean sheet this season, the most in the Lone Star Conference.

  • START STRONG FROM THE JUMP: The Pioneers maintained control in their previous matchup with the Falcons as they had a shots and corner kick advantage. TWU will hope to seize momentum from the jump and start in attack to defer the home field advantage for the Lobos. With 11.9 shots per game and 42% on target percentage, the Pioneers enter the matchup with the offensive advantage as the Lobos only average 8 shots a game and not a high volume of shots taken. Amanda Farris will lead the way on defense for the Pioneers in the net as she enters the match in the top five in the LSC in nearly every goalie category, seeking her 10th shutout of the year. Farris and the defensive back aim to stand strong and prevent the Lobos from building any momentum from the start.

Texas Woman's are set to play Sul Ross State at Lobo Soccer Field tomorrow at noon in Alpine, Texas.
