AUSTIN, Texas (Oct. 5, 2024) – The Texas Woman's soccer team scored two first half goals on Saturday at Lewis-Chen Family Field in Austin, Texas, to earn their first conference win this season over St. Edward's.
The Pioneers (5-2-1, 1-1-1) are back in the win column after defeating SEU (2-5-2, 0-3-1) 2-0 in today's match. Celeste Beltran secured her first collegiate goal off a pass from Alyssa Valdez to put the Pioneers ahead in the ninth minute. Bella Alfaro added to her freshman campaign with another goal in the 24th minute for her fourth one of the season.

"Proud of how our team has now gone back to back games in scoring two goals," Head Coach Babak Abouzar said. "It was great to see Celeste get her first collegiate goal and Bella is finding her stride in a new position. Overall we did a good job of limiting St. Ed's opportunities and getting a shutout. It's great to create a 2-0 lead and be able to sustain it. Very proud of how our subs came in and gave us valuable minutes. We will enjoy this win and look to recover and get ready for a quality OCU team."
