DENTON, Texas (Nov. 14, 2024) – For the first time in program history, the Texas Woman's basketball team was ranked No. 1 in the nation.
TWU (4-0) received 11 first place votes and was ranked No. 1 on this week's
D2CCA Division II Media Poll.
With three first place votes, Grand Valley State (5-0) was ranked No. 2. Gannon (5-0) came in at No. 3 with two first place votes.
On the top 25 poll, Lubbock Christian (4-0) and UT Tyler (2-0) joined the Pioneers from the Lone Star Conference.
The Pioneers' opponent this week, Southern Nazarene (1-1) was receiving votes.
In the D2CCA Preseason Poll, TWU was ranked at No. 2. Minnesota State – Mankato was ranked No. 1, but after falling to Northwest Missouri State, 85-67, they dropped to No. 14.
The D2CCA also releases
weekly regional polls. In the South Central Region, the Pioneers came in at No. 1 for the second straight week. TWU received all six first-place votes.
Lubbock Christian is ranked second, and UT Tyler is ranked third.
The Pioneers are currently 4-0 on the season, which they have won all four games on the road. TWU is currently averaging 66.5 points per game and are beating an opponents by an average of 12.8 points. The Pioneers are shooting 45.4% from the field.
TWU will meet No. 22 (on the WBCA Preseason Poll) Southern Nazarene on Friday, Nov. 15 at 5:30 p.m. in Bethany, Okla.
