DENTON, Texas (Nov. 18, 2024) - In conclusion of the Women's Soccer Lone Star Conference Tournament, the LSC All-Tournament team has been announced.
Freshman goalkeeper Faith Graves and senior defender Alyssa Valdez were recognized for their outstanding performances during the tournament, which saw their team reach the LSC semifinal round.
The LSC All-Tournament team consists of fourteen players from seven different teams. Among these players, only four are defenders, including Graves and Valdez.
Valdez started in all 19 games for Texas Woman's University (TWU) this season, contributing to an overall record of 11-4-4 and a conference record of 7-2-3. She was also named to the First-Team All-LSC for the first time before the tournament. As a leader in one of the best defenses in the conference, Valdez helped achieve 11 shutouts and allowed only 11 goals during the regular season.
During the tournament, Valdez assisted on two Pioneer goals and played a total of 200 minutes. She ended the season with five assists and one goal scored against Lubbock Christian.
Graves made her official collegiate debut in the opening round of the tournament against St. Edward's, where she played the full 110 minutes. She recorded seven saves in that match and successfully stopped two penalty kicks, helping the Pioneers advance to the semifinal round. Graves concluded her freshman season against Dallas Baptist on Friday, making another seven saves on 17 shots faced.
