TYLER, Texas (Feb. 28, 2024) – On leap day, the Texas Woman's basketball will travel to UT Tyler to face the Patriots in their final game of the regular season.

TWU (25-4, 19-2) will meet UTT (24-6, 18-3) on Thursday night. The final game of the regular season will determine final conference rankings ahead of the Lone Star Conference Championships, as the winner of the game will claim the LSC and East Division Title.

Most recently, the Pioneers went 1-1 at home last week, defeating Angelo State 79-72 and falling to UT Permian Basin, 51-47. For the Patriots, they defeated UTPB 74-57 but fell to Angelo State 69-62 in LSC contests last week.

• The Pioneers will tip-off with the Patriots on the road at 5 p.m. on Thursday night.

TRIPLE THREAT

• LAST TIME OUT: TWU and UTT have already met once this season. The two teams played on Dec. 30, 2023 in Denton, Texas, and the Patriots came away with the win, 61-55. Averee Kleinhans led the Pioneers with 18 points. Ashley Ingram scored 16 points, and Leila Patel finished with 12 points. The Pioneers shot 36.7% from the field in the game and held the Patriots to shooting just 37.5% from the field. TWU struggled with a slow start to the game – only scoring 11 points in the opening quarter of action to UTT's 21; however, the Pioneers then turned around in the second quarter and held the Patriots to scoring just five points, but TWU only scored nine. TWU will look to record a better start on Thursday.
• CRASH THE BOARDS: The Pioneers outrebounded the Patriots 40-29 in their first meeting. In their last game, TWU was outrebounded by UTPB in the loss, 51-32. TWU currently averages 36.4 rebounds per game, while UTT grabs 35.6 rebounds per game. Crashing the boards will be key in Thursday's game.
• HISTORICAL LOOK: The Pioneers are 4-3 all-time against the Patriots. They are 1-1 on the road. TWU last played at UTT to close out the 2022-23 regular season and lost 63-54. The Pioneers last won in Tyler on Jan. 31, 2022, winning 57-51.
