DENTON, Texas (Feb. 9, 2024) - The Texas Woman's STUNT team officially started their 2024 season on Friday night in KMA as they took on the DBU Patriots.
On Friday, Feb. 9, the Pioneers fell short to the Patriots 24-1. The two teams performed partner stunts, jumping & tumbling, pyramids & tosses, and team routines.
"I'm proud of my team for pushing through adversity during our first game." TWU head coach Jasmine Owens said. "We had a goal to get out there and build confidence in this team and absolutely did that by putting a point on the board against a strong opponent."
In their 2023 season, the Pioneers finished 7-7 as they finished their season 2-1 in the Drury tournament in Springfield, Mo. TWU STUNT showcased their hard work from the offseason by retaliating and scoring early in the third quarter after being scoreless at halftime.
Coach Owens added, "I know they are going to come in ready to push and make our first tournament a huge success. We continued to excel in jumps and tumbling while also improving on our pyramids and stunts!"
The Pioneers will compete in their first tournament next week in Dallas, Texas, where they will take on UT Tyler on Thursday, Feb. 15, and finish out on Friday morning, Feb 16, against Central Arkansas and Southern Nazarene.
