CANYON, Texas (March 1, 2024) – To open the month of March, the Texas Woman's softball team travels to West Texas A&M for a Lone Star Conference doubleheader.

TWU (11-8, 9-3) recently recorded a series win against Angelo State. They will meet WT (17-1, 9-0), who is currently undefeated in conference action. The Lady Buffs have recorded one loss on the season to Fort Lewis on Feb. 4.

Most recently, the Lady Buffs went on the road to Midwestern State and swept the Mustangs in their three-game series.

The Pioneers will play a doubleheader beginning at 1 pm on Saturday, March 2. Then, they will play the lone game of the three-game series on Sunday, March 3 at noon.

FIRST PITCH

• HISTORY: The Pioneers have met the Lady Buffs 59 times. TWU is 23-36 all-time against WT. TWU last won in Canyon in 2017. They average 4.22 runs against the Lady Buffs. On the road in Canyon, TWU is 13-5 all-time. In LSC match-ups, the Pioneers have won 11 of their 40 meetings.
• BATS ON FIRE: In their last game, the Pioneers recorded a season high 14 hits to defeat Angelo State 7-1. Six Pioneers recorded two hits. Ciana Rodriguez led the Pioneers in RBIs with three on the day. Vivica Hernandez crossed the plate twice to lead TWU. Both Rodriguez and Hawwa Townsend hit a double for TWU. They will look to keep their offense hot this weekend in Canyon, Texas.
• STRONG PITCHING: For the Pioneers, Alyssa LeBlanc currently ranks second in the LSC in pitching. She has a 0.96 ERA. Heidi Vortherms from WT ranks third with an ERA of 1.04. Look for both of these pitchers to be key in this weekend's series.
