ATLANTA (March 21, 2024) – Ahead of the 2024 NCAA Division II Elite Eight,
Ashley Ingram of the Texas Woman's basketball team celebrated another historical accolade on Thursday.
Ingram was named a
Women's Basketball Coaches Association First Team All-American. Ingram becomes just the second Pioneer in program history to be named an All-American; however, after being named to the WBCA All-American Honorable Mention List last season, Ingram becomes the first Pioneer in program history to earn back-to-back All-America honors.
While Ingram received Honorable Mention honors last season, this marks the first time in program history a Pioneer has been named a First Team All-American.
Ten student-athletes were named to the WBCA All-America First Team, while 30 student-athletes received All-America Honorable Mention honors.
Ingram adds All-American to her growing list of elite personal accolades, including Lone Star Conference Player of the Year, D2CCA South Central Regional Most Valuable Player and South Central Regional Tournament Most Valuable Player.
On the season, Ingram has helped guide TWU to a historic season – most wins in season, highest round in the NCAA Tournament, second LSC Title in program history and first South Central Regional Title in program history.
Ingram currently leads the Pioneers by averaging 18.4 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. She ranks fifth in the nation in double doubles with 18 on the season, third in the nation in field goal percentage (60.66%), first in the nation in free throw attempts and makes and 18th in Division II in defensive rebounds per game (7.0).
She continues to build upon the TWU Individual Record for most points in a season, currently with 664, and most rebounds in season with 315. Ingram currently holds 1,486 points on her career, which ranks fourth in TWU Program History. She also ranks third all-time in rebounds (711), sixth in assists (240) and fourth in blocks (77).
Next week, Ingram will look to build upon these stats in the Pioneers' Elite Eight debut.
The WBCA also names a 2024 Coach of the Year, and TWU Head Coach
Beth Jillson was named a finalist for the award. Georgia Southwestern's Hana Haden was voted as the 2024 Division II Coach of the Year.
