DENTON, Texas (March 26, 2024) - The Pioneer Pride Dance Team hit the ground running and made history in March by bringing home two Championship titles before Nationals in Daytona, Florida, on April 9-14.
This past weekend, Dance competed in the American Drill/Dance Team competition at the University of North Texas, where they competed in Hip Hop and Pom. The Pioneers finished 1st place in Hip Hop, second in Pom, and second place in D2 Overall.
"This competition is always a good experience for us as it happens just two weeks before our Nationals, and we get to make improvements from judges' feedback and get our routine out on the floor in front of a large crowd," Head Coach Marisa Martin said. "This season so far has been record breaking because PPDT has only ever won three titles in competition history, two of those being this season! We are so proud of our growth this year and are ready to finish the season strong at NDA Nationals in April."
Earlier this month, the Pioneer Pride Dance Team competed in the Union Virtual College Classic and placed first in Spirit Showdown and fourth in Pom. Spirit Showdown is about team spirit and creating a crowd-engaging routine, which incorporates fight songs, flags, signs, chants, and a timeout Hip Hop performance.
