DENTON, Texas (April 1, 2025) – The Texas Woman's Pioneer Pride Dance Team celebrated a historical finish this past weekend.
On Saturday, March 29, the Pioneers competed at the University of North Texas in the
American Dance/Drill Team Competition.
TWU brought home the hardware, as they placed first in not one but three categories. The Pioneers claimed the first place trophy in Pom and Hip-Hop, and they were crowned the Overall Division II Champions – all for the first time in program history.
"Pioneer Pride continues to make history this season by sweeping the competition this weekend at ADTS," said TWU Pioneer Pride Dance Head Coach
Marisa Martin. "This is the first year Pioneer Pride has taken home first place in both Pom and Hip Hop as well as first place overall D2. The strides this program is making is incredible, and I couldn't be prouder of my athletes as we countdown to NDA nationals in just one week. We can't wait to hit the nationals floor and compete these routines one last time next week!"
In Division II, the Pioneers took home the crown, UT Tyler finished as first runner-up and St. Edward's concluded the competition as second runner-up.
The Pioneers also finished as the runner-up for the America Academic Champion Title with a total team grade point average of 3.6405.
Pioneer Pride will host a Nationals Show-Off in TWU Fitness and Recreation on Sunday, April 6 at 2 p.m. They will showcase their nationals routines before heading to Dayton, Fla. to compete at NDA Nationals on April 10-12.
