Box Score OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma (March 28, 2024) - Despite out hitting the Eagles and having a great pitching performance, the Texas Woman's softball team fell short to Oklahoma Christian in the lone game of the lone Star Conference series in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Thursday afternoon.
TWU (16-20, 14-11) faced the Oklahoma Christian (22-14, 18-10) on Thursday, March 28 and the Eagles took the 2-1 win for game one of the series that went to extra inning as teams reached the seventh inning tied 1-1.
Alyssa LeBlanc (8-9), who pitched all eight innings for the Pioneers, limited the Eagles to only six hits. LeBlanc faced a total of 26 at bats and struckout eight Eagles.
For OC, Jill Dickson and Grace Anderson took care of business on the mound. Delaney Boley led the Pioneers on hit with two while Vivica Hernandez, Ciana Rodriguez, Hawwa Townsend, Makana Morton, Tylar Lane and LeBlanc recorded one hit each for a total of eight hits.
The game started with two scoreless innings, and OC took the lead in the bottom of the third inning with back to back triples.
TWU responded quickly in the top of the fourth inning. Townsend hit a single to right field and advanced to second on a passed ball. Catcher Boley hit another single to left center and pushed Townsend to third base.
The junior from Fort Worth, Texas, Hernandez, singled through the left side and collected an RBI while Townsend made the run to home base and tied things up for the Pioneers.
After three scoreless innings, the Pioneers and the Eagles went to extra innings to find a winner in the first game of the conference series.
OC closed the game with a double hitter inning.
After today's game OC sits fourth in the LSC standings while TWU ranks ninth. Tomorrow's doubleheader will be crucial for the Pioneers to get back on the winning column. Game one of the doubleheader is set to start at 1 p.m.
