DENTON, Texas (April 18, 2024) - The Texas Woman's softball team set to depart for Silver City, New Mexico, to take on Western New Mexico for a three-game series against the Mustangs on Friday and Saturday, April 19-20.
TWU (21-26, 19-17) will take on WNMU (8-35, 5-31) to finish their final road trip of the 2024 regular season. The first two games will be the doubleheader on Friday, April 19, at 2 and 4 p.m., and the final matchup will be on Saturday at noon all central times.
In their last outing on the diamond, the Pioneers took a 2-1 series win over Texas A&M - Kingsville in the three-game series. Texas Woman's took game one with solo home runs by Elizabeth Smith and Lauryn Davies to close out the Javelinas with a final score of 2-1. TAMUK responded in game two with a 7-1 win over the Pioneers to even up the series. On the final day of the matchup, TWU secured a 1-0 lead early in game three, which gave them the win to put the Pioneers in seventh place in the LSC standings.Â
The Mustangs will look to end a three game losing streak and defend home turf after suffering three straight losses to UT Tyler at home this past weekend. WNMU are 4-14 at home this season, while the Pioneers have an away record of 8-14 and will look to improve that this week against the Mustangs. WNMU is currently 14th in the LSC standings only above UTPB.Â

Texas Woman's took the series 2-1 last year against the Mustangs in their battle in Denton, Texas. TWU took game one of the series with a score of 5-0 and then fell to WNMU in game two, 2-1. The Pioneers bounced back in game three to win 2-1 as TWU currently leads the all-time series between the two teams, 14-6.Â
TWU is gearing up for their matchup with WNMU starting tomorrow, April 19, at 2 and 4 p.m central time (1 and 3 p.m. MT). The two will conclude their series on Saturday at noon central time (11 am MT).
