TWU HOLDS STRONG AT NO. 2 ON BOTH NATIONAL POLLS

DENTON, Texas (Jan. 7, 2025) – To open the new year, the Texas Woman's basketball team continues to hold strong at No. 2 on both national polls.

TWU (13-1, 6-1) remained locked in at No. 2 this week on both the Women's Basketball Coaches Top 25 Poll and the D2CSC Media National Poll.  
 
On both national polls, Grand Valley State (14-1) remained at No. 1. This week, the Top Five almost mirrored each other on both polls. At No. 3 was Cal State Dominguez Hills (14-0). Bentley (13-1) held strong at No. 4. The difference between the polls came at No. 5. On the WBCA Poll, Montana State Billings (14-2) moved up from sixth to fifth, while Seton Hill (13-1) ranks fifth on the D2CSC National Poll.

In the Top 25, just two teams remain unbeaten –Cal State Dominguez Hills and No. 6 North Georgia (12-0). Previously unbeaten Fort Hays State fell last week to Missouri Western on the road.

Each week, the D2CSC also releases a Regional Poll. This week, TWU remained at No. 1 in the South Central Region. UT Tyler (11-2) moved up from No. 3 to No. 2, and Lubbock Christian (12-3) dropped to No. 3. 
 
The Pioneers currently average 67.5 points per game with an average scoring margin of 15.1 over their opponents. On average, the Pioneers are holding their opponents to 52.4 points per game, which ranks second in the Lone Star Conference.

TWU will be at home for LSC action this week. They will meet St. Mary's on Jan. 9 and St. Edward's on Jan. 11.
