DENTON, Texas (Oct. 23, 2025) – With the official season just weeks away, Texas Woman's wrestling will give fans their first look at this year's squad during the annual Maroon & Black intrasquad meet, set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday inside Kitty Magee Arena.
The event offers more than a preseason preview, it's a chance to showcase growth, welcome new faces and build momentum ahead of November's official opener. The Pioneers' goals are clear: wrestle with purpose, uplift one another and compete among the nation's best.
"Our non-negotiables are winning conference and regionals, qualifying the majority of weight classes to nationals and ultimately winning nationals," senior Maegan Flaherty said.
This year's senior class has been instrumental in shaping the team's identity. Together, they've emphasized leadership, academic excellence and a shared standard of accountability that defines the Pioneers' culture.
"We remind ourselves every day to be relentless from the first whistle to the last," Flaherty said. "It's not just about saying it, it's about believing it."
That belief shows up in how the team trains, supports one another and embraces a team over me mentality, a phrase that has become central to the program's foundation.
"Everything we do, on and off the mat, reflects the habits of champions," senior Laisha Rios said. "It's what drives our accountability and unity."
Among the returning leaders, Nari Miller continues to set the tone with her competitive drive and presence on and off the mat. Miller's leadership and focus have helped raise the bar for the entire team.
"I've worked hard physically and mentally, visualizing success and focusing on making history at TWU," Miller said.
As the season opener nears, excitement continues to build, not just for the competition, but for the opportunity to represent TWU on a national stage.
"There's nothing like traveling and competing with your teammates," Flaherty said. "We're ready."
With the Maroon & Black meet just days away, fans will get their first glimpse of a team driven by belief, bonded by culture and ready to raise the bar.
