DENTON, Texas (Oct. 29, 2025) – After another 2-0 weekend in Kitty Magee Arena, Benedite Anuman was named the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Anuman, a redshirt freshman middle blocker, earned the honor for the first time in her career.

"Benedite has worked extremely hard this season," Head Coach Jessica Ransom said. "She has continued to improve week after week, so it's great to see that hard work rewarded."

On Friday, Anuman and the Pioneers defeated RV Angelo State in straight sets, recording their first win against the Rambelles since 2018 and first sweep since 2013. In the match against ASU, Anuman recorded four total blocks, as the Pioneers held ASU to hitting just .038 in the match, which marked their second lowest hitting percentage in a match this season. Anuman also added two kills and one dig in the win. Then, on Saturday, Anuman followed it up with another great performance in TWU's three set win over UT Permian Basin. She led the defense for the Pioneers with six total block assists. She also matched her career high with two block solos. The Pioneers held the Falcons to their third lowest hitting percentage of the season at .065. Anuman also added four kills on .429 hitting and one dig in the win.

The honor marks TWU's fourth overall LSC Player of the Week honor of the season.

The Pioneers head on the road this week for two LSC matches against Lubbock Christian and Midwestern State.
