DALLAS, Texas (Nov. 15, 2025) – In the final weekend of the regular season, the Texas Woman's volleyball team dropped two matches on the road.
TWU (18-10, 11-6) played back-to-back five set matches on Friday and Saturday, losing to UT Tyler (16-11, 12-5) and UT Dallas (9-19, 6-11).
The Pioneers close the regular season with 11 wins in Lone Star Conference action – their third straight season with double-digit conference wins.
KEY PLAYERS
AGAINST UT TYLER
- Tori Woods led the Pioneers on offense with 19 kills and also added 19 digs to record her eighth double-double of the season.
- Trinity Blackwood joined Woods with double-digit kills, finishing the match with a career high 14 kills.
- Joniada Donowa was the third and final Pioneer to record double-digit kills on the night. She closed the five sets with 11 kills on .426 hitting percentage, and Donowa also added eight block assists.
- Lorena Gómez dished out the most assists for TWU with a career high 31. She also finished with her sixth double-double of the season, as she added 11 digs.
- Kiana Reed recorded her 13th double-double of the season with 23 assists and 13 digs on the night.
- Along with Donowa, Myracle Stockman was strong in blocking on the night. She finished with seven block assists, and Benedite Anuman also contributed to the 14 overall blocks for the Pioneers with six total blocks.
- Alyssa Rojo topped the TWU leader board in digs with 25 – her 12th match with 20 or more digs.
AGAINST UT DALLAS
- Three Pioneers finished with double digit kills. Woods led with 15, Stockman added 14 and Anuman finished with a career high 12. On her way to 12 kills, Anuman hit a career high .706 in the match. Woods added 15 digs to her 15 kills to record her eighth double-double of the season. For Stockman, she also recorded six block assists and seven digs to her stat line. Anuman finished with five blocks in the five sets.
- Donowa led the Pioneers on defense with 10 total blocks – her second match this season with double-digit total blocks.
- Both of TWU's setters finished with double-doubles. Reed led with 30 assists and added 11 digs – her 14th double-double of the season. Gómez added 21 assists and 11 digs – her seventh double-double of the season.
- Rojo once again led the Pioneer in the digs category with 24 digs on the day.
- Blackwood also added a career high six blocks across the five sets.
KEY MOMENTS
AGAINST UT TYLER
- In the match, the Pioneers led with 14 blocks – their 10th match this season with 10 or more blocks. They did record just one ace in the match to the Patriots eight. On the night, TWU hit .193, while they allowed UT Tyler to hit .201.
- TWU led early on in set one. After UT Tyler cut it to two, 7-5, a kill by Woods ignited a 6-1 run for the Pioneers to put them ahead, 13-6. Throughout the set, every time UT Tyler found a slight run, TWU would respond and increase their lead. The Patriots would tie it up at 18, but a kill by Blackwood would push it back up to two for TWU, 20-18. Then, the score would be tied six times. UT Tyler would have set point three times, but TWU battled back with a vengeance each time.
- With the Pioneers trailing by two, 24-22, two blocks by TWU would tie it up at 24. Then, the scoring would go back-and-forth. The Pioneers had set point, 27-26, but UT Tyler would tie it at 27. Then, a kill from Blackwood brought up another set point, 28-27, and a block by Anuman and Blackwood would win the set for the Pioneers, 29-27.
- In set two, TWU trailed 9-7. A kill by Donowa set the Pioneers up for a 5-0 run to take the lead, 12-9. The score would be tied at 14 and 15, but a 3-0 run by TWU gave them the 18-15 lead, and the Pioneers would not trail for the rest of the set. TWU closed the set with four straight points, as another block – this time by Donowa and Stockman – gave TWU the set win, 25-18, and the match lead 2-0.
- Set three was defined by a late set battle. TWU led 20-17. Then, UT Tyler scored four straight to take a one-point advantage, 21-20. A service error by the Patriots tied up the set, 21-21. The score would be tied again at 22, but UT Tyler brought up set point with two straight points. A kill from Stockman would bring TWU within one, 24-23; nevertheless, the Pioneers fell in set three, 25-23.
- TWU struggled to find their rhythm in set four and fell, 25-14.
- In the deciding set, the Pioneers would lead by one early after a kill by Woods, 4-3. Then, the score would be tied nine times throughout the remainder of the set. Trailing 14-11, TWU scored three straight to tie it at 14. The two teams would trade scores after that. The Pioneers found their only set point opportunity of the set after a block by Anuman and Miriam Williams and a UT Tyler attack error put TWU ahead, 18-17; however, three straight points by the Patriots closed the match, 20-18, for UT Tyler.
AGAINST UT DALLAS
- TWU once again led the block category. They finished the match with 16 total blocks – their 11th match of the season with double-digit blocks. TWU hit .180 on the day and held UTD to .144.
- TWU came out strong to start the match. In the first set, they recorded a 10-0 run to lead 20-11. Then, they closed the set with four straight points, as back-to-back kills by Anuman decided the set for TWU, 25-16.
- In set two, TWU led 12-8 after a block by Donowa and Blackwood; however, UTD responded with six straight points, which included three attack errors from TWU, as the Comets took the lead, 14-12. The Pioneers would come within one multiple times throughout the set, but UTD closed the set with four straight points to win the set, 25-20, and even the match at one set each.
- TWU would lead for the majority of set three. A block by Stockman and Donowa would put TWU ahead, 21-15. However, a 6-0 run by UTD would tie the set at 21. Following that run, TWU would bring up set point off a Comets attack error, 24-22, but UTD recorded four straight to close the set, which included two kills, an ace and a TWU attack error, as the Comets won the set 26-24.
- The Pioneers regrouped and found their momentum in set four, as they led for the entirety of the set. A kill by Blackwood late in the set would ignite four straight points, as the Pioneers led 22-16. A kill by Woods would bring up set point and a kill by Donowa won the set for the Pioneers, 25-20.
- In the fifth and final set, UTD jumped out to an early 5-0 lead that the Pioneers struggled to come back from, as the Comets would complete the five set win, 15-8.
