DENTON, Texas (Nov. 22, 2025) - The Texas Woman's soccer team is geared up to face the best of the best on the road Sunday, taking on Lone Star Conference champion Dallas Baptist in the NCAA Division II second round at noon at Patriot Soccer Field. A big task awaits the Pioneers, as top-seeded DBU (18-1, 12-1) has claimed each of the first two meetings this season.

TWU (16-3-3, 9-2-3) earned their place in the round of 32 after making program history in Friday's overtime win against RMAC regular-season champion No. 22 Colorado Mesa. Bri Luna propelled the Pioneers with a standout performance and the golden goal in the 107th minute — her second game-winner in the last three postseason matches.

LEAVING IT ALL ON THE LINE IN DALLAS

  • Sunday marks the third meeting this season between TWU and DBU, following an October matchup and last week's LSC Championship thriller in Dallas, where the Patriots edged the Pioneers 3-2 in a back-and-forth contest.

  • Texas Woman's will meet Dallas Baptist in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at noon Sunday at Patriot Soccer Field. The winner advances to the Sweet 16 to face the winner of No. 3 seed UCCS and No. 2 seed Colorado School of Mines.

  • A LOOK AT DBU: South Central Region host Dallas Baptist enters the match 18-1, having scored 69 goals and allowed only seven this season. Against TWU, the Patriots hold a 7-2 scoring advantage after a 4-0 win in October and a 3-2 win in the LSC Championship. DBU aims to defend their home field and advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2022. With scoring depth across the lineup and one of the region's stingiest defenses, DBU presents a significant challenge for the Pioneers. The Patriots lead the all-time series 17-8-2.

  • A LOOK AT THE PIONEERS: Texas Woman's has set a postseason standard of excellence, already breaking the program's single-season wins record with 16. The Pioneers have scored 45 goals, conceded 16 and posted a program-best 14 shutouts. TWU will look to make the third time the charm against DBU, leaning on a dynamic attack and a gritty defensive unit.

  • KEYS TO THE GAME: LEAVE NOTHING ON THE FIELD >> Previous matchups with No. 1 DBU no longer matter — it's win or go home. TWU will need an all-out mentality, playing free and generating shots in volume to test the Patriot goalkeeper. Defensively, the Pioneers must remain disciplined and organized to slow DBU's high-powered attack. Capitalizing on big moments will be crucial as TWU aims to rise to the occasion once again against the nation's top-ranked team.

TWU looks to continue its historic run Sunday at noon, with a spot in the Regional Final on the line.
