DENTON, Texas (Nov. 26, 2025) - For the 2025 season, juniors' Giselle Gutierrez and Erica Brelove have been named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (CCA) All-South Central Region Team. Gutierrez earned first-team honors, while Brelove was selected to the second team.
"Super proud of these two young ladies receiving recognition in our region," Head Coach Babak Abouzar said. "Our team would not have had the success we had this season without Erica holding down the backline like she did and Giselle scoring goals the way that she did. We're fortunate to have one more year with them as they continue to grow both on and off the field."
Gutierrez started 22 of 23 matches this season and led the Pioneers with 12 goals, setting a single-season program record. She also recorded six assists to total 30 points — the most in a single season in Pioneer history. Gutierrez played 1,640 minutes, took a team-high 59 shots with 32 on goal, and recorded three game-winning goals. She became the first TWU player named to the CCA All-South Central Region First Team since Chelsea Martin in 2017.
Brelove started all matches and logged 2,006 minutes as a central defender on the Pioneer back line. She scored two goals, including one game-winner, and recorded her first two career assists. Brelove was a consistent presence in the heart of the defense, helping TWU maintain a strong back line that limited opponents. Her leadership and reliability on both ends of the field were key factors in the Pioneers' successful season.
Both Gutierrez and Brelove were named to the All-Lone Star Conference First Team this season, marking a milestone for the Pioneers as two players earned top conference honors in the same year.
The Pioneers finished the season 16-4-3, 9-2-3 Â and advanced to the NCAA Division II Second Round for the first time in program history, topping the program's history of postseason play.
