KICKING IT TO ALPINE

  • A LOOK AT THE LOBOS: Sul Ross State enters the weekend at 1-3 after earning their first win of the season, a 3-1 victory over Southwest (NM). The Lobos have scored three goals across four matches while conceding six, averaging 0.75 goals per game on just over eight shots. Offensively, Cali Triggs leads the way with two goals, while Kari Villatoro has added one. In goal, Emmy Finlinson has made 28 saves with an .875 save percentage, anchoring a defense that has faced more than 16 shots per match. Saturday's contest will mark TWU's first Lone Star Conference road test, with the Pioneers aiming to maintain their unbeaten start against a Sul Ross team that has shown resilience despite early setbacks.

  • A  LOOK AT THE PIONEERS: TWU's offense has been rolling to start the season, scoring 18 goals on 62 shots with a .290 shooting percentage and a .548 shots-on-goal rate. The Pioneers have scored at least four goals in every match, spreading the production across multiple players with 14 total assists. Defensively, TWU has allowed just one goal through four contests. Goalkeepers Amanda Farris and Faith Graves have combined for nine stops, anchoring a back line that has limited opponents to just 19 total shots all year.

  • KEYS TO THE GAME: CARRY THE MOMENTUM >> Through four matches, the Pioneers are averaging 4.5 goals per game while allowing just one. That combination of firepower and defensive discipline has been the difference in their perfect start, and it will need to continue against stronger LSC competition. Against West Texas A&M, TWU's ability to break down a balanced Lady Buffs side that has allowed only three goals this season will be key. Pressuring goalkeeper Franciezca Blancaflor, who owns a .864 save percentage, could tilt the match.

On the road at Sul Ross, composure will be important in TWU's first LSC road test. The Lobos have shown resilience with three early draws, so the Pioneers will need to stay patient in attack and take advantage of scoring chances to close out the trip strong.
