DENTON, Texas (Sept. 23, 2025) – The Texas Woman's soccer team will continue Lone Star Conference play this week after opening with a perfect 2-0 record. The Pioneers (6-0, 2-0 LSC) head to San Antonio on Wednesday to face St. Mary's (1-3-1, 0-2) at Sigma Beta Chi Field, with kickoff set for 5 p.m. They will then return home to host Midwestern State (1-1-3, 1-0-1) on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m. for Alumni Night at Pioneer Soccer Park.

TWU has been dominant on both ends of the field, outscoring opponents 21-2 while averaging 3.5 goals per game on 16.5 shots. Defensively, the Pioneers are allowing just 3.8 shots per game and have only conceded two goals all season. Goalkeepers Amanda Farris and Faith Graves have combined for 11 saves in those contests.

The Pioneers have outshot opponents 99-23 and earned a significant edge in corner kicks, controlling the pace and tempo through disciplined possession and relentless pressure.

Now riding a six-game win streak, TWU looks to stay focused, taking things one game at a time as conference play heats up.

PIONEERS HEADED TO SA

  • A LOOK AT STMU: St. Mary's enters Wednesday's contest following tough LSC losses to UT Dallas and No. 5 DBU. Their lone win came on Sept. 13 against East Central at Sigma Beta Chi Field. Despite TWU's recent success, the Rattlers lead the all-time series 5-2-3. The Pioneers won their last matchup in 2024, which marked Head Coach Babak Abouzar's 100th career victory. St. Mary's hasn't defeated TWU at home since 2006, when they won 3-0. Offensively, Shelby Paniagua and Malia Dominguez will be key for the Rattlers as they try to match the Pioneers' high-powered attack.

MUSTANGS SET TO VISIT DENTON

  • A LOOK AT MSU: Midwestern State earned their first win of the season in a 2-1 battle against UTD and will face Lubbock Christian before coming to Denton. The Mustangs lead the all-time series against TWU, 18-9-6. Their last two visits to Pioneer Soccer Park resulted in an overtime win in the 2023 LSC Tournament and a 2024 draw featuring two late goals. MSU will look to continue that trend behind leading scorers Nyxalee Munoz and Marlene Myrvoid.

  • A  LOOK AT THE PIONEERS: Texas Woman's has been firing on all cylinders, with six different players scoring at least two goals this season. Junior midfielder Ailyn Oliveros leads the team with four goals and eight points, including two goals coming in the last two games. The Pioneers' defense has been just as stout, conceding only two goals all year. As they gear up for two crucial conference matchups, TWU will aim to flip the script in their all-time series records with both StMU and MSU.

  • KEYS TO THE GAME: ONE STEP AT A TIME >> Through six games, TWU averages 3.5 goals per match and boasts a .556 shots-on-goal percentage. On the defensive side, they've allowed just 23 total shots—a testament to their aggressive pressing and team discipline.

The Pioneers aim to stay perfect as they face the Rattlers on Wednesday, Sept. 24, and the Mustangs on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
