DENTON, Texas (Sept. 29, 2025) - Texas Woman's junior forward Giselle Gutierrez has been named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week, earning the honor for the second time in her career. Gutierrez became the second Pioneer to receive a weekly conference award this season, joining Lupita Bueno, who was named Defensive Player of the Week in Week One.
"A well-earned award," said TWU Head Coach Babak Abouzar. "Giselle has been an intricate part of our offense, and that shows not only in her goal-scoring ability but also in her ability to set her teammates up. She's a fun player to coach, and it's been great to see her continue to grow each game!"
Gutierrez led the Pioneers' offense this week with three goals across two key conference matchups. She struck twice in a 3-0 road win over St. Mary's, helping TWU earn its fifth shutout of the season. She followed that with a clutch equalizer in a 2-2 draw against Midwestern State, preserving the Pioneers' undefeated record at 7-0-1 overall.
Over the two matches, Gutierrez recorded five shots on goal and now leads TWU with five goals on the season.
The Pioneers' high-powered attack will look to keep rolling this week, as they host Eastern New Mexico on Wednesday at Pioneer Soccer Park before heading to UT Tyler on Saturday for another critical conference showdown.
