DENTON, Texas (Sept. 9, 2025) – The Texas Woman's soccer team is back in action this week with two non-conference matchups. The Pioneers (2-0) will host Southern Nazarene (1-0-1) on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. at Pioneer Soccer Park, before hitting the road to Shawnee, Oklahoma, to face Oklahoma Baptist (0-1-1) on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 2 p.m.

TWU is off to a strong start this season, outscoring its opponents 8-0 across the first two matches. The Pioneers are averaging 14 shots per game with a 4.0 goals-per-game mark and have placed 17 of their 28 total shots on target.

After back-to-back shutout wins over Mississippi College and East Central, TWU will look to keep the momentum rolling in front of a home crowd before closing out the week on the road.

SNU COMES TO TOWN

  • A LOOK AT THE CRIMSON STORM: Southern Nazarene enters Wednesday's match following a dominant 9-0 win over Randall University. In their season opener, the Crimson Storm tied Midwestern State, 2-2, showing early offensive firepower with 11 total goals through two matches. In their most recent matchup, the Pioneers defeated SNU 1-0 on the road in Bethany, Oklahoma. Last season, TWU shut out the Crimson Storm 4-0 at Pioneer Soccer Park.

HITTING THE ROAD TO OBU

  • A LOOK AT THE BISON: Oklahoma Baptist is still searching for its first win of the season following a 1-1 draw with Angelo State and a 5-0 loss in their opener. Against ASU, the Bison fired off 10 of their 11 shots in the second half and capitalized with a late equalizer. The series between TWU and OBU is tied at 3-3 all time. In their last meeting, the Pioneers came out strong, scoring in the opening minute en route to a 3-0 victory in 2023.

  • A LOOK AT THE PIONEERS: TWU's offense has been sharp through two matches, tallying 28 total shots with a 60% shots on goal rate. Defensively, the Pioneers have yet to allow a goal. Goalkeeper Amanda Farris recorded a save this previous week, anchoring a back line that has been relentless.

  • KEYS TO THE GAME: BUILD ON BALANCE >> Through two games, the Pioneers are averaging 4.0 goals per game on 14.0 shots while holding opponents to zero goals. That kind of two-way efficiency will be crucial as they face a SNU team that has already scored 11 goals this season but also allowed two in their opener. TWU will look to control possession early and test the Crimson Storm back line, which showed some vulnerability in that 2-2 draw against Midwestern State. On Saturday, TWU's ability to disrupt OBU's rhythm in the midfield and limit second half surges will likely play a key role. The Bison showed they can generate pressure late, and the Pioneers will need to stay composed defensively to close out the road trip.

Coach Babak Abouzar and the Pioneers look to keep building on their early success as they take on Southern Nazarene on Tuesday, Sept. 10, and Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday, Sept. 13.
