DENTON, Texas (July 2, 2026) – On Thursday, Texas Woman's University announced the hiring of Ingrid Sobrino as the Assistant Director of Athletics for External Relations.

Sobrino, a proven leader in sports operations and external relations, joins the Pioneers with more than 15 years of experience across professional sports, collegiate athletics, event management, marketing, athletic administration and advancement.

Her career in athletics spans elite levels of sport, including her current role with the FIFA World Cup 26™ at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, where she serves as VIP Lounge Manager. She leads premium hospitality operations for more than 1,200 guests each match day across nine FIFA World Cup matches, including FIFA executives, international dignitaries, sponsors, partners and premium hospitality clients. In this role, she oversees cross-functional teams across hospitality, catering, security, guest services and event operations, while collaborating with FIFA officials and venue leadership to ensure seamless execution of tournament hospitality operations.

At the University of Oklahoma, she served as Director of Operations for the wrestling program, overseeing logistical, operational, and financial functions, including travel, budgeting, recruiting operations and team events. She functioned as a key operational leader and served as the primary liaison to multiple athletic department units, including academics, compliance, marketing, facilities, nutrition, equipment and student-athlete experience. She also played a key role in executing major program events, including the "Night of Legends" fundraiser, which generated more than $85,000 in a single evening.

Her career in college football includes six years at Rice University as Chief of Staff, Special Events and Recruiting for the football program. Reporting directly to the head football coach, she held a leadership role during a period that included a conference championship and three bowl appearances. She directed all football special events and home game operations, leading signature initiatives such as the Rice Football Golf Tournament, which generated more than $100,000, and the program's International Football Clinic. She oversaw recruiting operations, including official and unofficial visits, junior days and summer camps, while managing event logistics, camp registration and team travel for away games and bowl season. She also served as a liaison for former lettermen, donors and program families.

Following her tenure at Rice, she served as Director of Recruiting Relations for the North Carolina State University Football Program, where she led recruiting operations strategy and directed the Football Ambassador Program. She oversaw recruiting events and prospect engagement initiatives, including official visits, campus visits, junior days, summer camps and game day recruiting logistics, integrating recruiting operations with external engagement efforts to enhance the student-athlete experience.

Beyond football, she previously worked at Texas State University in the Bobcat Club, the principal fundraising arm of Texas State Athletics, where she supported donor engagement and special events. She organized Bobcat Bonanza, generating more than $300,000 for scholarships and securing $75,000 in gift-in-kind donations from local businesses, contributing significantly to scholarship and development efforts.

On the professional side of sports, she worked for the Orlando Magic, where she led special event planning for the Corporate Partners Division and coordinated player and coach engagement at partner events. She also partnered with basketball operations on corporate partner travel logistics and budgeting, while supporting marketing and sponsorship initiatives within the organization's Latin Affairs Division.

Alongside her athletic experience, Sobrino served as Director of Marketing for Oak Grove Technologies in Raleigh, N.C., where she managed a $300,000 marketing budget. She led branding and sponsorship initiatives across combat sports athletes, a premier rugby organization, and youth motocross talent, while overseeing a full-scale corporate rebrand that strengthened market presence and corporate image.

Sobrino has also worked with Florida Citrus Sports, Learfield, the American Athletic Conference, the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame and Rock Hill High School within the Prosper Independent School District.

In her role with the Pioneers, Sobrino will manage the Pioneer Club and the annual Pioneer Golf Invitational, oversee sponsorship identification and activation, develop and maintain relationships with alumni, community leaders and corporate sponsors, lead fundraising campaigns and work with TWU Advancement to cultivate major gifts, while continually working to implement external relations strategies to enhance visibility of the athletics department. 

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Cornell University and a Master of Arts in Physical Education K-12 with a specialization in Sports Management from Adelphi University. She is a native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and is fluent in both English and Spanish.
