DENTON, Texas (August 10, 2026) – On Monday, the Texas Woman's Athletic Department announced the hiring of Tyler Tawney as TWU's Coordinator of Operations and Event Management.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such an outstanding staff and look forward to creating exceptional experiences for our student-athletes, coaches, fans and the entire Pioneer community."
Tawney most recently served as the Graduate Marketing Assistant at Stephen F. Austin University (SFA), while earning his Master of Business Administration in Sports Business. In this role, he worked to develop and execute sport-specific marketing and fan engagement initiatives. Additionally, Tawney oversaw the marketing operations for various sports at SFA to ensure proper event and promotional execution. He served as the supervisor of a core team of student workers to ensure each event and initiative was carried out to the highest standard. Tawney also worked alongside the marketing team to design promotional nights and in-game fan interactions. Furthermore, he worked to create run-of-show documents, scripts and timing sheets to guarantee seamless execution of game day operations.

Tawney also completed his undergraduate degree at SFA, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Sports Business. While pursuing this degree, he worked for two years as the Student Assistant Director of Marketing and Community Engagement with SFA Athletics. In this role, he assisted in marketing strategies for football, volleyball and men's and women's basketball. Tawney helped lead the marketing efforts to success by supervising and training student staff to properly execute marketing and game day operation efforts. He also supported community outreach, fan engagement and strong department collaboration to provide an engaging game day environment for all fans. Prior to serving in the Student Assistant Director role, he worked for one season as a Sports Marketing Assistant with SFA Athletics.
Along with his work at SFA, Tawney worked for two summers as the Tournament Director for NCS Baseball. In this role, he served as the primary point of contact for all teams, coaches and fans to successfully manage all live event operations for youth baseball tournaments. Additionally, he provided timely communication regarding scores, brackets and schedule changes to properly support all officials and staff.
Outside of athletics, Tawney also spent time as a Marketing Intern with Hill and Wilkinson General Contractors for a summer internship. During this internship, he created branded marketing materials, supported internal and external marketing campaigns and assisted in execution of company events.
Tawney also brings volunteer experience at the Southland Conference Basketball Tournament, the 2025 NCAA Final Four and the Western Athletic Basketball Conference Tournament.
